Do you like Group Dancing, which means 群舞?

Is your favorite song in PLAYZONE March?

If so… I strongly recommend you to see Marching!!

Today I will introduce you about Marching.

• First, I will talk about what Marching is.

Marching comes from America to Japan in 1960s.

The origin of it is said to be the music band in the US Army.

Now in Japan, marching is performed mostly by JHS students, HS students, and the police.

Marching band consists of Drum Major, who is a conductor, Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion, and Color guard, which means Flags.

• Then, how to march?

The secret to march completely all together is 62.5cm

What is 62.5cm?

In marching, we all use “point” in order to know where we are. “Point” is the same as BAMIRI.

We marked “point” every 5m, and make square. And then, we can make a formation depends on the points. When we go forward, or go backward, we have to walk from point to point in 8steps. 5 meters divided by 8 equal 62.5cm. So we practice and practice and practice, to make one step 62.5cm long.

If 62.5cm become possible, excellent performance will be a reality.

• Now, I will introduce some performance of Marching in Johnny’s scene.

First, in News Concert “美しい恋にするよ”concert, the collaboration with NEWS and Marching Band came true.

Second, in NHK music program, the back dancer performed with flags.

Third, in ピーチケパーチケ、Nozomu Kotaki visited Blast! And practiced color guarding. His performance was very good. He tried difficult technique.

Forth, this summer, in Gamushara, team 者 will challenge funcussion with moving like Marching.

Finally, above all things, March in PLAYZONE was the greatest. Maybe it is categorized not in Marching but in 集団行動、but the way they cross is the same as the technique in Marching.

If even one of them walked in wrong steps, they would crash each other. Actually, it’s so scare. So, the braveness, accuracy, and confidence are needed to perform like this. That’s why I am excited with this crossing.

• Finally, I want to show you one of the best performances. I love Sing Sing Sing, performed by Kyoto Tachibana HS Marching Band.

At the end of this presentation, I will give you some information. If you want to see Marching, All Japan Marching competition will be held on November 22^nd. But it is in Osaka. So, I recommend Kanto preliminary, which is held on August 30^th ARIAKE Colosseum or on October 4^th CHIBA Port Areana
